Here are some suggestions from our clinical team, remember that everyone’s counselling experiences are unique so these may not all work for you:
- Be open and honest
- Talk about what’s most important to you.
- You may want to keep notes/journal your experience
- Be consistent in attendance
- Let your therapist know what you need/tell them if you feel any frustration with them or the work you’re doing together.
- Be collaborative in your relationship with your therapist
