I am currently Consultant Clinical Director and Lead Tutor for the Diploma in Counselling Young People at No5. I also see young clients (11-18) at No5 and I am teaching on the No5 Diploma course.
The other part of my work is teaching and tutoring on a psychotherapy course (Beijing Anding Hospital, Capital Medical University) and supervising MSc students (Birkbeck College, London).
Before my current roles, I was Program Manager then Senior Tutor on the MSc for Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at Birkbeck College in London for 7 years. At that time I also worked as a school counsellor (primary and secondary schools) and psychotherapist for children and parents in private practice.
I believe it is important to support and develop students, counsellors and staff teams so they can take up their roles to their best abilities within a dynamic, safe and professional setting. I also believe that despite working in teaching and voluntary organisations, I – and all counsellors/psychotherapists – need to keep practicing counselling and psychotherapy with young people so to stay up to date and keep learning.
In life outside work, I am a mum, a gran (‘mammi’), a wife, a stepmum, an aunty, a daughter, a sister, a colleague, a friend.
